CAN I SEE WHAT LOADS THE TRAILER HAULED PREVIOUSLY?
We can pull the last 3 prior loads on every trailer. Just contact our Pedigree Trailer Experts know which trailer(s) you are looking at and they can pull the loads for you.
ARE THESE TRAILERS 3A SANITARY CERTIFIED?
No. These trailers are built to 3A Sanitary specifications: #4 polish interior finish (RA ≤32), W5 weld finish, Betts food-grade manways with Hypalon gaskets, but they do not carry the official 3A Sanitary designation. The construction/specs meets the 3A Sanitary standard, but they do not have the official designation.
CAN I GET THE TRAILER KOSHER CERTIFIED?
We can coordinate getting the trailer kosher certified for you for a minimal fee. Contact our Pedigree Trailer Experts for information.
WHAT TIRE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
Every trailer comes with 50% tread or better on super singles. New virgin dual tires or new super single tires are available for an additional $1,500, which is a heavily discounted price. DO THE TRAILERS HAVE ANY LEAKS AND WHAT ABOUT THE SEALS?
Every trailer is DOT inspected before it leaves our lot. The manway gaskets are inspected as part of that process. If you want to bring your own inspector before purchase, we welcome it — we have nothing to hide on these units. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CODE AND NON-CODE FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER
A DOT407 code trailer is pressure-rated to 15 PSIG and certified for loads requiring pressure
certification, including food-grade ethanol. A non-code trailer operates at atmospheric pressure
and handles the full range of food-grade liquids that don’t require pressure certification.
Code can do everything non-code does — plus regulated loads.

CAN I HAUL NON-FOOD PRODUCTS IN A FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER?
Yes. A food-grade stainless tanker with DOT407 certification handles a wide range of non-food liquids including pharmaceutical-grade water, food-grade hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric acid, biodiesel, industrial ethanol, propylene glycol, cosmetic-grade ingredients, and CIP cleaning chemicals like food-grade sodium hydroxide. The T304 stainless construction and DOT407 pressure rating make these trailers some of the most versatile bulk liquid equipment on the road.
WHAT DOES DOT407 MEAN?
DOT407 is the specific federal standard under 49 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) that governs low-pressure liquid cargo tanks. When a trailer carries a DOT407 designation, it means:
• It was designed and manufactured to meet DOT407 specifications
• It passed a formal inspection and certification process
• It is rated for a working pressure of 15 PSIG
• It is legally authorized to haul cargo that requires a pressure-certified tank
The “407” is the specification number — there are other DOT codes for different tank types (DOT406 for flammable liquids, DOT412 for corrosives, etc.). DOT407 is the food-grade and low-hazard liquid standard. When a food shipper or broker lists “DOT407 required” in their load requirements, only a certified code trailer qualifies. A non-code trailer cannot legally accept that load regardless of how well it’s built.
DO I NEED A SPECIAL ENDORSEMENT TO PULL A TANKER TRAILER ?
Yes. You need a tanker endorsement (N) added to your CDL. It requires a written knowledge test at your local DMV — no additional road test. If you’re hauling hazmat-classified liquids, you’ll also need the hazmat endorsement (H), or the combined tanker/hazmat (X). The endorsement applies to any liquid load over 119 gallons.
WHERE DO I FIND LOADS FOR A FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER?

WHAT MAINTENANCE DOES A FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER REQUIRE?
Food-grade tankers require washouts between loads (your load broker or receiver will specify the wash standard), regular gasket and valve inspection, and an annual DOT inspection. The Hendrickson Tiremaax CP system on these trailers maintains tire pressure automatically at 85 PSI while driving, which reduces one of the most common maintenance items on any trailer. Beyond that, it’s standard commercial trailer upkeep — brakes, lights, air system, and suspension checks.

WHERE DO I GET A TANKER TRAILER WASHED OUT?
