Walker built these to the 3-A Sanitary code, the hygienic standard many dairies and food plants look for. Atmospheric tanks with a Walker 19″ sanitary manway, an Olson pressure/vacuum vent in the lid and a 60TTF tank outlet valve. They run the same everyday food grade loads as our 2006 to 2013 units. Prime Inc. fleet maintained, with service records and the last 3 prior loads available.

YOU'VE GOT QUESTIONS ON OUR FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILERS? HERE'S THE FACTS:
ARE YOUR TANKERS CODE OR NON-CODE?
We have both. Most of our Walkers are non-code food grade tankers, which means the tank is not certified to a DOT hazmat cargo tank spec (DOT 406, 407 or 412). That’s the standard spec for food grade liquids like juices, dairy, edible oils and syrups. Our 2006 to 2013 Walkers carry a 15 PSIG operating pressure, and our 2002 to 2005, 2015 and 2016 Walkers are atmospheric. We also carry DOT 407 code tanks in limited numbers, built to the DOT 407 spec and rated to at least 25 PSIG. Ask a Trailer Expert what’s in stock.
CAN YOUR TANKERS HAUL HAZMAT?
Our non-code food grade Walkers cannot haul loads that legally require a code tank, like gasoline or ethanol. Our DOT 407 code tanks were built to a DOT hazmat cargo tank spec, but whether one can legally haul a specific hazmat load depends on the product and on the tank’s current DOT inspections and tests. A Trailer Expert will confirm a unit’s inspection status before you buy.
CAN A DOT 407 TANKER HAUL FOOD GRADE LOADS?
It depends on your shipper. Our DOT 407 Walkers have stainless interiors and full-length in-transit heat, and Prime ran them in food grade and non food grade service. Some food shippers accept a DOT 407 tank for their loads and some don’t, so check with your shipper first. If they need 3A Sanitary, ask about our 2002 to 2005 and 2015 Walkers.
DO ALL OF YOUR TANKERS HAVE IN-TRANSIT HEAT?
Yes. Every Walker we sell has full-length in-transit heat, including our DOT 407 code tanks. Hot coolant from your tractor’s engine circulates through heat panels on the tank while you drive, holding product temperature from the loading dock to the receiver. The 2016 adds extra heat panels and a heated cabinet for thick loads.
DO THE TANKERS COME WITH A PUMP?
Most do. Our 2002 to 2012, 2015 and 2016 Walkers have a hydraulic pump that runs off your tractor’s wet kit, and our team rebuilds the pumps before sale. The 2013 was built without a pump, cabinet or hydraulic lines, which suits receivers that unload with their own pump. Our DOT 407 code tanks were built without a product pump. A Trailer Expert will confirm what’s on the unit you’re looking at.
ARE THESE TRAILERS 3A SANITARY CERTIFIED?
Some are. Our 2002 to 2005 and 2015 Walkers were built to the 3-A Sanitary code, and the code is listed on each unit’s build sheet. Our 2006 to 2013 and 2016 Walkers are built to 3A specs, with the same #4 interior finish and W5 welds, but they do not have the official 3A Sanitary Designation. If your shipper needs to see the 3-A symbol on the trailer, a Trailer Expert will check the specific unit for you.
WHICH TANKER CAN HAUL CHOCOLATE, PEANUT BUTTER OR OTHER THICK LOADS?
The 2016 Walker. Thick products like liquid chocolate, peanut butter, palm oil, molasses and honey set up as they cool, and the 2016 is built for them with a heated cabinet, enhanced in-transit heat with extra panels, 3 Type 316 stainless manholes and a 60TTF plunger valve with an auger knife blade. Our other Walkers are built for thin and everyday food grade liquids.
HOW MANY GALLONS DO YOUR TANKERS HOLD?
Most of our Walkers were built at 6,800 to 7,000 gallons, and the 2013 was built at 7,250 gallons plus 1% outage. Capacity can vary from unit to unit, so a Trailer Expert will confirm the gallons on the trailer’s data plate before you buy.
CAN I SEE WHAT LOADS THE TRAILER HAULED PREVIOUSLY?
Yes. We can pull the last 3 prior loads on every trailer. Tell a Pedigree Trailer Expert which unit you’re looking at and they’ll get them for you.
CAN I GET THE TRAILER KOSHER CERTIFIED?

WHAT TIRE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

DO THE TRAILERS HAVE ANY LEAKS AND WHAT ABOUT THE SEALS?
Every trailer is DOT inspected before it leaves our lot. The manway gaskets are inspected as part of that process. If you want to bring your own inspector before purchase, we welcome it — we have nothing to hide on these units. DO I NEED A SPECIAL ENDORSEMENT TO PULL A TANKER TRAILER ?
Yes. You need the tank vehicle (N) endorsement on your CDL. Federal rules require it for a tank of 1,000 gallons or more, and our Walkers hold well over that. The N endorsement takes a written knowledge test at your state licensing office, with no extra road test.
WHERE DO I FIND LOADS FOR A FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER?

WHAT MAINTENANCE DOES A FOOD GRADE TANKER TRAILER REQUIRE?
Food-grade tankers require washouts between loads (your load broker or receiver will specify the wash standard), regular gasket and valve inspection, and an annual DOT inspection. The Hendrickson Tiremaax CP system on these trailers maintains tire pressure automatically at 85 PSI while driving, which reduces one of the most common maintenance items on any trailer. Beyond that, it’s standard commercial trailer upkeep — brakes, lights, air system, and suspension checks.

WHERE DO I GET A TANKER TRAILER WASHED OUT?
Food-grade washout facilities operate nationwide — most are located near major freight corridors and food processing hubs.
